A chromogenic print, also known as a C-print or C-type print, a silver halide print, or a dye coupler print, is a photographic print made from a color negative, transparency or digital image, and developed using a chromogenic process. They are composed of three layers of gelatin, each containing an emulsion of silver halide, which is used as a light-sensitive material, and a different dye coupler of subtractive color which together, when developed, form a full-color image.

The QCL-1000™ Assay uses a synthetic chromogenic peptide substrate that can be cleaved by the clotting enzyme, resulting in a product that exhibits a yellow color. Using this assay kit, samples are mixed with the LAL reagent and chromogenic substrate reagent over a short incubation period (16 minutes), and read on any spectrophotometer or plate reader which is capable of measuring 405–410nm. Chromogenic media are principally designed to limit the requirement for screening commensal organisms to exclude the presence of pathogens, thus saving time and reagents. Chromogenic media may also afford an increased sensitivity, as coloured colonies can be detected more easily when present amongst other flora. This test utilizes a preparation of Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL), in combination with an 96-well microplate, an absorbance plate reader and appropriate software (such as WinKQCL™) to detect endotoxin photometrically. In the presence of endotoxin, the lysate will begin to cleave the chromogenic substrate, causing the solution to become yellow. Chromogenic bacteria - English - Sinhala Online Dictionary.
